NIÑOS MATE
“Niños MATE” is a service project at MATE museum in Barranco which offers unprivileged creative, “artsy” children from the area who range from ages 6 to 12 years old to benefit from a free art’s and & crafts workshop at the museum twice a month. Mate, is a non-profit institution founded by the peruvian fashion photographer Mario Testino. “Niños MATE” is part of MATE’s educational program whose purpose is to enhance students’ ability to understand and appreciate the collection and temporary exhibitions, as well as wider subjects related to art and culture. The aim is to become a learning space, so that students can expand their understanding of art and build a strong foundation for their creativity and critical thinking.
“Niños MATE” is sponsored by Artesco and lead by MAB After School. I collaborate with with this tutoring institution in order to design, organize and lead each workshop that happens one saturday and one sunday of every month.

Why Niños MATE ?
First of all, I've always loved to work and be with children. Apart from appreciating the positive energy, imagination and happiness they have and transmite to others, I learn so many new things from them overtime. Besides, outside of school I teach a 2nd grade girl english, having this leadership experience with a child gave me the opportunity to realise I wanted to do something bigger. Leading has become a skill I love practicing and becoming better at. This is why I found this opportunity perfect to practice leadership, a very important skill. Also, the MATE museum is so inspiring to me due to the fact that photography is one of my biggest passions and I truly admire Mario Testino's work. Finally, apart from being able to widen my skills, follow my passions and learn I am able to contribute to others lives in great ways, this is why I strongly believe "Niños MATE" is the right project to follow as my CAS project.
Creativity & Service
This CAS projects takes into action two CAS strands, Creativity and Service. Both apply to Niños MATE since creativity is clearly demonstrated through the arts & crafts workshops designed and lead by the collaborators and I. Also we provide this workshops which are sponsored by Artesco in order to allow all unprivileged children to assist the class with no additional payment. We contribute to their knowledge and personal growth.
